A Night Out with the Birds SN 888
An all-night, mid-August visit to the Ythan estuary in Aberdeenshire, with Angus Hogg and Ken Jackson. During the night and very early morning they find 29 species of wader and other shore birds, mostly going about their feeding activities, which are regulated by the state of the tide, not the hours of daylight. Vocal wader are redshank, greenshank, turnstone, ringed plover, curlew, whimbrel, dunlin, knot, golden plover, lapwing, oystercatcher, green sandpiper, and snipe – joined by herons and three tern species and five types of gulls.
